Group chairs Caroline Haig and Avril Johnstone look ahead to an important learning event aimed at empowering staff and students to be effective allies to LGBTQ+ colleagues

We warmly invite you to our "LGBTQ+ Ally Learning Lunch" facilitated by award-winning social enterprise Pride Outside CIC, providers of specialist LGBTQ+ workplace training and consultancy to public, private and third sector organisations.

As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive culture within the SHW, the LGBTQ+ Athena Swan Group has organised this event to empower staff and students to become effective allies to the LGBTQ+ community.

The LGBTQ+ community faces unique challenges, and allyship plays a crucial role in creating a more inclusive and safe environment.

During this Learning Lunch, you will:

  1. Gain a deeper understanding of LGBTQ+ terminology, issues, and experiences.
  2. Learn practical strategies to become a supportive ally in various aspects of life, including the workplace educational settings, and personal relationships.
  3. Hear personal stories and insights from LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
  4. Have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions with our panel of experts and guest speakers.
