Katherine Champion is launching the findings of new research undertaken in partnership with Stirling Council Libraries and Archives exploring how public libraries create social value and how that value can be better evidenced. Funded by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC), the Evidencing the Social Value of Public Libraries project highlights the interconnected social, cultural, economic and wellbeing benefits generated through everyday library use, while drawing attention to the often-overlooked relational work of library staff. The research has also developed a practical Social Value Toolkit to help library services capture and communicate these impacts more effectively. The report will be launched at St Ninians Library, Stirling, on Friday 11 September 2026.
