James Watt Nanofabrication Centre

Wraparound Services

Alongside the JWNC's core nanofabrication capabilities, users can access a range of complementary facilities and specialist expertise across the University of Glasgow. These services support projects throughout the development process, from materials growth and fabrication through to packaging, characterisation and testing.

KNC (Kelvin Nano Characterisation Centre)

One of the UK's leading centres for electron and ion microscopies, providing imaging and analysis of materials at length-scales from the sub-millimetre to the atomic scale.

MATCH (Materials Characterisation Hub)

MATCH offer a wide range of techniques for characterising the composition and structure of materials, including X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), MicroCT, Raman Spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Optical Emission Spectroscopy, and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF).

ANALOGUE

ANALOGUE is a back-end-of-line packaging suite that complements the JWNC’s fabrication capabilities. It offers wafer grinding and dicing, die- and wire-bonding, bond testing and imaging, alongside additive manufacturing for custom packaging across a range of materials and substrates.

Glasgow Epitaxy Facility (GEF)

The Glasgow Epitaxy Facility (GEF) supports academic and industrial research in III-V semiconductor materials and devices. It provides customisable MOCVD and MBE growth services for GaAs- and InP-based materials, alongside design, characterisation and training to support the development of next-generation photonic and electronic technologies.
