Species stories

The Species Stories is a project run by students and staff which aims at telling the past, present, and future stories of some of the plant and animal life that exists on our campus. The stories are published as an ArcGIS StoryMap.

Currently, our species stories include the parakeet, heather, hedgehogs, and nuthatch. You can read the stories below, though we recommend opening the StoryMap in a separate tab for better visuals.

Get involved

We are always looking for more people to get involved and new species stories to tell. Get in touch with Dr Lydia Bach (Lydia.Bach@glasgow.ac.uk) or the GUEST biodiversity promoter if you would like to contribute. This can either be by writing a species story, adding photographs and illustrations, updating our ArcGIS StoryMap, or helping us spread the word on social media.
