Opening dates for Ukraine Humanitarian Aid Hub in QMU extended

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you all for your support, it has been much appreciated!

The Russian invasion of Ukraine continues. As the war goes on more and more lives are devastated. We want to help.

We are therefore pleased to announce that we have been able to extend the opening dates of the Donations Hub in the Queen Margaret Union, which will be open until Friday 20 May.

  • Where? Queen Margaret Union, University of Glasgow, 22 University Gardens. G12 8QN
  • When? Every Wednesday (09:00–12:00) and every Friday (09:00–16:00). From Fri 25 March to Fri 20 May.

If you can, and if you are able to, please donate. It truly makes a difference. Your amazing contributions have helped fill two articulated lorries which set off to Lviv on 18 March.

If you can’t donate, there are still ways to help such as sharing collection information, sharing and showing support through social media, attending protests etc. We have seen how peoples’ voices have been heard and huge changes have already been made.

The donations we are collecting are going through approved routes via Edinburgh AUGB (Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain). They have an established route through Europe and onto Poland and Ukraine.

Lesia Davidson, Project Development Manager in Estates and one of the coordinators of the Ukraine Donations Hub, said: “I’d like to thank the community at the University for their generosity with donations over the last few weeks, the response has really been tremendous. I’d also like to offer my heartfelt thanks to our team of volunteers who have worked tirelessly to keep the Hub running and process donations for transport.

“We are delighted to be able to keep the Hub running until the end of May, as this will offer more opportunity for people to contribute, particularly for help sourcing those items that have been identified as being of specific need, and which will make a difference to the people of Ukraine who are enduring such hardships at the current time. Thank you again for your support.”
