Survey for University Technicians

Published: 8 April 2022

Survey will inform overview of the skills and the range of roles within the Technician community

As part of the University’s implementation of the Technician Commitment Action Plan, the University has partnered with the NTDC (National Technician Development Centre) to run a Skills, Roles and Responsibilities Survey of our technical staff (and staff fulfilling a technical role) to establish a comprehensive overview of the skills and the range of roles within the Technician community.

This will assist in the identification of future skills and training needs to allow Recognition, Development and Progression of our technical staff. Everyone who completes the Survey will receive a personalised skills report to support their own future development.

The survey will be open for four weeks and it is important that as many of our Technical staff take part as possible. The Survey is expected to be launched at the end of April.

The exact launch date will be communicated to you in due course. Please see here for detailed information about the Survey.

Technical staff play a vital role in the success of the University.  They contribute across a whole range of University business from teaching and research to diagnostics.  The survey will capture this contribution and will help to identify skills development opportunities to meet the future needs in these areas. Technicians, managers and other colleagues across the University of Glasgow have worked closely with NTDC staff to develop this version of the Survey, which is the first of its kind and will focus solely on technical staff.

Contact details of relevant staff have also been included in the link above so you may contact them in case you have any questions.
