The Principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, said: “Jon’s appointment marked the importance and increased emphasis we wanted to place on our research outputs and how these might be more effectively harnessed for the benefit of society and the economy. Jon faced this complex and challenging brief by bringing his considerable knowledge, experience and insight to bear in shaping a strategic approach to Innovation and Knowledge Eschange. He led the development of the most recent KE and Innovation strategy for the University, with an emphasis on improving our partnerships with external stakeholders.”

He added: “His work and its success has ensured that the University is better placed to move forward in this area, and I would like to acknowledge and thank him for all that he achieved on behalf of the SMG and University. Jon’s talents and energy will remain in the University as he returns to The James Watt School of Engineering where he leads a research team in biomedical engineering.”

Professor Cooper said: “It has been an honour to have served the University. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the role has been the opportunity that it has provided for me to meet such a breadth of dedicated people from across all of our Schools and campuses, whether as students, academics or in our professional services teams. These personal aspects are undoubtedly the ones that I will miss the most.”
