Learning & Teaching

In September we launched the Skills and Experiences Hub, a new student-facing resource designed and delivered in collaboration with the Careers, Employability and Opportunities team and the Learning & Teaching Strategy Student Interns.

The Skills & Experiences Hub will enable students to recognise, develop and articulate the skills they’re developing through their degree, part-time work, volunteering, and more. Founded on an employability commitment of ‘Every student. Every year. Every degree’, all UofG students can utilise this resource at any point in their studies.

We launched with a bang in September, promoting the new resource at Open Day, Welcome Week, and FutureFest, chatting to over 1500 students across the three days. A huge thanks to everyone who worked on the stall with us, and to the teams organising these fantastic events for our students. Daniel Mitchell, Head of Employability & Skills, and Ben Jones, SRC VP Education, hosted a Skills Soundbites talk at FutureFest to showcase the new Hub to students and highlight why students will find it so valuable.

The Skills and Experiences Hub webpages and resources have been co-created alongside our team of L&T Strategy Student Interns – Alina Chauhan, Ananya Bansal, Alessandro Peacock, Erin Inglis, and Lauren McDougall.

On the Skills webpage, students can find guidance, practical resources, and interactive tools to help them recognise, develop, reflect on and articulate their skills.

The Experiences webpage supports students to find opportunities that help them to develop their skills including internships, student jobs, volunteering, and clubs, societies and committees.

How can I get involved?

This resource sits alongside the Embedding Employability Framework which was launched last year to provide a consistent University approach and build on existing good practice to embed employability within curriculum design and delivery.

By working through the Embedding Employability Framework in your programme design and delivery, and signposting students to the Skills and Experiences Hub throughout their studies, you will play a key role in empowering students to understand and articulate the employability and skills value of their degree.
