Contractor Parking
The University of Glasgow recognises the importance of providing parking for contractors to carry out essential works or emergency repairs.
We have a small number of contractor parking we can offer each day at both Gilmorehill campus and Garscube campus. All contractors MUST contact the parking team to pre-book in with us before arriving on campus, this must be at least 24 hours prior to arriving, unless it is an emergency call out.
DO NOT TURN UP AT THE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS WITHOUT A BOOKING AS ACCESS WILL NOT BE GRANTED.
We try to accommodate the majority of requests however unfortunately this is not always possible and we decline a number of requests.
There is local pay and display parking at Lilybank Gardens car park and Bunhouse Road car park which are only 5 mins walk to the main campus so we advise you to make use of these car parks if you cant get booked in with us.
DO NOT PARK ON CAMPUS WITHOUT A BOOKING. YOU WILL BE ISSUED WITH A PARKING CHARGE NOTICE AND REPORTED TO YOUR COMPANIES MANAGEMENT, ALONG WITH YOUR UNIVERSITY CONTACT.
REPEATED PARKING ON CAMPUS WITHOUT A BOOKING WILL RESULT IN YOU BEING BANNED FROM COMING ONTO CAMPUS IN THE FUTURE.
Contractors are permitted upto 30 minutes to drop off materials/equipment at the location of the job. You MUST then park off campus after the permitted 30 mins have expired.
Contractors who exceed the 30 minute time restriction and are not booked in with the Campus Parking Team will be subject to a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) of £60.00.
Parking for contractor vehicles is restricted to contractors carrying out work on campus only.
We do not book in spaces for project managers, construction management, surveyors etc to attend meetings or carry out survey works or indeed just to visit their sites. If they wish to park on campus, they need to book a visitor permit and pay the daily rate associated with that permit type. Contact the parking team for more information on visitor permits or read Visitor Parking section on the web page.
Please see the link below for our car parking location maps.
Contractor parking is limited, especially at Gilmorehill campus, and is subject to availability.
When parking on campus, Contractors MUST park within the confines of a parking bay at all times unless prior agreement has been made with the parking team.
DO NOT BLOCK OR PARK ON/NEAR ANY EMERGENCY EXITS OR CROSSHATCH AREAS ON CAMPUS. THESE AREAS ARE MARKED FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS.
Booking Notice
We require as much notice as possible (preferably 24 hours) to book your contractor in; however, we understand this is not always possible if it is an emergency.
We also understand that there are occasions when contractors are called onto campus at very short notice to deal with emergencies. The person who called out the contractor should inform the parking team and security, and we will ensure that access is permitted for these emergencies.
Etiquette on Campus
The University operates a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse and aggression. Any instances of abusive or threatening behaviour towards our Security or Parking team, or to any member of staff, will result in refusal of entry onto campus and an official report submitted to the Contractor's Site Manager and Head Office.
All contractors MUST make themselves aware of our Car Parking Scheme Principles.
Safety on Campus
When driving on campus, pedestrians have the right of way at all times. No vehicle, plant or materials shall block any access/egress route at any point in time, or individuals/contractors will be subject to a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) and will be prohibited to park on campus again.
Site Compounds
Site compound locations MUST be agreed with the Parking Team if a site compound is required to be located over or restricting any parking bays. If any blue badge bays require to be used, then you must make alternative arrangements to temporary relocate the blue badge bays to an alternative location nearby, agreed with the parking team. Temporary signage must be created by the requestors, not the parking team.
If a site compounds is created, this does not mean that a parking space can be created for vehicles. No Contractor vehicles are allowed to park within the confines of a site compound.
Do not create a parking space using heras fencing beside your site compound as you will be required to remove this and the vehicle may be subject to a Parking Charge Notice (PCN).
If we agree to allocate contractors a specific space on campus, you are not permitted to increase the agreed allocation of spaces without prior approvel from the parking team.
Delivery Vehicles, Couriers and Taxis
Delivery vehicles, couriers and taxis are permitted up to 30 minutes on campus. Deliveries will be allowed access to the site under the 30 minute drop off/pick up restriction and are to depart immediately after any unloading/collecting has been completed. if there are particular requests for deliveries which will take longer than 30 mins please let us know so we can co-ordinate this with our security colleagues.
