Which methods of assessment will I have to take?

There are as many methods of assessment as you can imagine, so it is difficult to say which methods you will come across.

You can look for your course in the Course Catalogue and the information there will tell you what the summative assessment will likely entail. However, you must check for formative assessment opportunities and for details of the summative assessment in the course documents.

Methods of assessment

  • Your assessment could be something traditional like an essay, or a little more avant-garde like a blog post.
  • It might be a physical performance such as a theatre piece, or a demonstration of a skill as in an OSCE.
  • The assessment might also be individual, or it might be work you do as part of a group.

The best place to find out which types of assessment you are most likely to come across is to look in your course handbook and on your course Moodle page.
