Celebrating our global connections in our anniversary year
As we celebrate our 575th anniversary, we have been honoured to welcome partners, university leaders and policymakers from around the world to our Gilmorehill campus, highlighting the strength of the global connections that have shaped our past and continue to influence our future.
In the Summer edition of Connect, we reflect on several highlights from our anniversary programme, including the Universities 21 Annual Network Meeting and inaugural Leadership Summit, and the Second Africa–Europe CoRE Conference. Together, these landmark gatherings brought leading voices from higher education, industry and government to Glasgow, fostering meaningful dialogue, strengthening partnerships and inspiring collective action on issues that matter locally, nationally and internationally. They also provided a fitting opportunity to celebrate our anniversary alongside our network of cross-sectoral partners who continue to enrich and strengthen our University community.
While these events reflect the enduring importance of international collaboration, this issue also looks firmly to the future. We are delighted to mark the launch of the University’s new ten-year strategy, World-Changing Glasgow: University for the World, with an introduction from our Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andy Schofield. His vision sets out how we will build on nearly six centuries of achievement to expand our global impact, deepen our partnerships and respond to the opportunities and challenges of the decade ahead.
Together, the stories in this edition celebrate the connections that make the University of Glasgow truly global. As we mark this anniversary year, they reflect the ambition, influence and outward-looking spirit that will shape our future. We look forward to continuing that journey with you.
