Adam Smith Tercentenary Commemorations

Over the course of the week – and in partnership with the Adam Smith Global Foundation (Kirkcaldy) and Panmure House (Smith’s final home). Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a range of commemorative events including: 

  • An event to mark Smith’s Christening at the Old Kirk in Kirkcaldy
  • Tours of key Smith locations (including Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh)
  • Evening lectures by high profile speakers throughout the week – including speakers from the Hunter Foundation Adam Smith Global Lecture Series
  • Academic workshops-Student activities

The commemoration week will conclude with a day-long Symposium on Saturday 10 June at Hunter Halls in the University of Glasgow, where international scholars and practitioners will bring Smith into conversation with contemporary issues. Keynotes include Professor Sir Tim Besley (LSE), Professor Benjamin Friedman (Harvard), Professor Mary Morgan (LSE), Professor Diane Coyle (Cambridge), Professor Anne Case (Princeton) and Sir John Kay.
