Priority 1. Promoting Equity and Gender Empowerment

Inequalities are rising across the world. High rates of inequality have been associated with key barriers to development such as persistent poverty, weak governance systems, political instability and low social cohesion. Inequalities between high and low income groups, men and women, as well as those related to ethnicity, caste, religion, disability and others must be addressed in order to realise global development ambitions.

Our research contributes to greater political participation, agency and equality among disadvantaged groups especially women and girls. It can inform policies and programmes that aim to strengthen their critical and meaningful engagement in social and political spaces as well as interventions to promote better education and employment opportunities.
