The College of Social Sciences (CoSS) Employability team organise a Professional Skills Programme (PSP) a few times a year, specifically for students from the School of Social and Political Sciences. PSP takes place over three of four days, it's free, and is designed to enhance your professional skills to give you the best start when entering the work place.

Employers no longer look for just a degree when hiring staff. It is essential for graduates to now possess the correct professional skills, personality traits, and behaviours to guarantee success in your career. PSP is a highly interactive programme where you can discover wheer your strengths lie and attributes you need to work harder on. You will also be able to receive and provide peer feedback, as well as professional.

As well as all the skills and knowledge you will gain over the duration of the programme, PSP is also ILM accredited which means it is the benchmark of high quality bespoke leadership and management development. ILM is the European market leader in the provision of leadership , management and coaching qualifications.

What out students have said.......

'This is most definitely the most useful skills-based course I've been on since I've been at University'

'If you are looking for a better understanding of yourself, the current world of work  or how teams work in a professional setting, then I would highly recommend taking part in PSP.'

'It has given me a very pragmatic outlook and made entering the job market less of an abstract and therefore less daunting thought.'

'I would recommend it to other students because it really helped me learn about the workplace through examples, personal experience and other students' experiences.'
