Events in the Stevenson Lecture series are recorded: watch videos here.

Stevenson Trust, Social Sciences hub
Date: Friday 21 November 2025
Time: 18:00 - 19:30
Venue: Senate Room, The Gilbert Scott Building University of Glasgow Glasgow G12 8QQ
Category: Public lectures, Social events, Academic events, Student events, Alumni events
Speaker: Bernard Ponsonby (former STV Political Editor) and Alex Massie (The Times)

With the 2026 election shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable and consequential in recent years, Ponsonby and Massie will analyse the key issues, potential outcomes, and the political, social, and economic ramifications for Scotland (and the wider UK). Expect sharp insights, lively debate, and plenty of thought-provoking discussion as they unpack what might lie ahead for parties, voters, and the country.

The event will conclude with an audience Q&A — your chance to put questions directly to two of the nation’s most experienced political commentators; followed by a drinks reception to wrap up the evening.

This event is taking place in the Senate Room inside the Gilbert Scott Building, which is the main building of the University of Glasgow.
