Menstruation

Menstrual disorders represent a significant clinical problem. Hysterectomy, at present the definitive surgical treatment for menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) is the commonest major operation performed in women of reproductive age. Current clinical research within the department includes assessment of the menstrual complaint, a comparison of abdominal and laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy, and the investigation of medical treatments for menorrhagia.
