Glasgow Dental School has strong links with the Dental Faculty at the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPS Glasg). The College is currently raising funds to support medical training in Malawi. As part of the fund raising activity, a team of 12 cyclists, led by the President of the RCPSG Professor David Galloway, set out on the ‘5 Ferries Challenge’ around the Firth of Clyde on Saturday 6th September.

The student exchange programme between Glasgow Dental School and the Sun Yet Sen University (SYSU) School of Stomatology (Guangzhou) has entered its third year. Xueqin Zhang, Zhenyu Xie, Xiaoyi Huang, Xiaorui Zhu, Xinyuan Lei and Wenxin Mu touched down at Glasgow Airport at 12.35pm on 22 May to begin a four week attachment in Glasgow.

In response to the call earlier this year for nominations for College Teaching Excellence Awards, a nomination was submitted for the team of Ziad Al-Ani, Andrew Crothers, Zayneb Makki, Wendy McAllan, Robert McKerlie and Carlos Miguel in relation to their significant achievements over the past five years to develop and embed Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching into the BDS curriculum.
SSM in e-learning team pick up Best Presentation at the University of Glasgow 9th Learning and Teaching Conference

A new Special Study Module (SSM) for BDS5 students was launched this year. Five students took part, working in two groups to identify areas of the curriculum that would benefit from the development of e-learning resources. The teams then worked in partnership with academic staff and the e-learning developer to plan, develop and evaluate e-learning resources.

BDS 5 student Roshan Vasaiwalla has won the regional heat of the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh DENTSPLY Dental Skills competition which was held in the Glasgow Dental Hospital on the 15th December 2015.
