Abstract
Beginning with simple examples, my talk will introduce a novel approach to understanding Atiyah-Patodi-Singer indices for manifolds with boundary that casts them within the framework of an associated topological quantum field theory. This has applications in spectral geometry, particularly to Floer-style gradings on moduli spaces.
