Abstract

I will define a set of virtual Hecke characters, called cylindric, in terms of the six-vertex model in statistical mechanics. These characters, via their associated modules, span a positive sub-coalgebra in the Grothendieck ring of finite-dimn’l modules of the Hecke algebra. Positive in this context means, that their expansion under the restriction functor gives non-negative integer multiplicities, the Gromov-Witten invariants of the Grassmannians. This is going to be a combinatorial not a geometric talk.
