Abstract

Matchbox manifolds arise naturally in various areas of topological dynamics, most pictorially (and primarily for this talk) through the medium of aperiodic tilings. In many cases, their study leads to spaces featuring structure both as a bundle and as an inverse limit. This talk will give an overview of aspects of the development of these perspectives, with more emphasis on the latter. However, we will see by the end that  as far as the topological information contained in the limit is concerned, the journey to the limit, as the saying goes, may be more important than the destination.
