Abstract
We say that p/q is a characterizing slope for a knot K in the 3-sphere if the oriented homeomorphism type of p/q surgery on K determines K uniquely. I will discuss what is known about the set of characterizing slopes for torus knots, paying particular attention to non-integer slopes. This is related to conjectures about knots in the 3-sphere with Seifert fibered surgeries.
