Abstract

This talk is about three-manifolds with torus boundary. I will explain how to view certain invariants as immersed curves in a (marked) torus; and how to interpret intersection of such curves as an invariant of closed three-manifolds obtained by gluing. This starts out by relying on what seems to be a special class of three-manifolds, but I'll try to explain why it really is the right way to view bordered invariants  in the torus boundary setting  in general. This is joint work with Jonathan Hanselman and Jake Rasmussen.
