A classical theorem of Weyl states that the distance between the orbits of two self-adjoint matrices under unitary conjugation is the same as the distance between their eigenvalues. I will show how to
prove an analogous result in certain well-behaved C*-algebras. This is joint work with Karen Strung and Andrew Toms.
