A group G is exact if and only if the reduced cross product preserves short exact sequences of G-C*-algebras. In the discrete case this is a well studied phenomenon and is equivalent to an amenable action on a compact Hausdorff space. In this talk we shall show that this equivalence holds for locally compact second countable groups.
