Abstract

This talk is about the relationship between the entropy of certain dynamical systems and certain determinants defined on infinite-dimensional algebras of operators. All notions will be motivated and explained in detail. This work leads to the proof of a conjecture by Christopher Deninger about the entropy of principal algebraic actions as well as a proof of a conjecture by Wolfgang Lück about the vanishing of L2-Torsion of amenable groups.
