Abstract

Some alloys, when deformed plastically ('permanently') can come back to their original shape under certain conditions. This usually occurs due to the changes in their microstructure and the phenomenon is termed as 'Phase Transformation'. I will describe the shape memory effect due to the Austenite-Martensite type phase transformation.
