Topological solitons of the Faddeev-Skyrme model and the FBN-decomposition

Abstract

The Faddeev-Skyrme model is the canonical model for 3D topological, knot-like solitons. However, it also has topological solitons of a different shape and character. We demonstrate how the system reacts when the usual boundary conditions are changed. We also cover some important results regarding the Faddeev-Babaev-Niemi decomposition of the Ginzburg-Landau model, which relates said model to the Faddeev-Skyrme model.
