Abstract

The Julia-Wolff-Caratheodory theorems from the 1920's assert that if a function of one variable has a little regularity at a boundary point, then it automatically has a lot more. These theorems have been partially generalized to arbitrary pseudo-convex domains, but not all equivalences remain true. Recently, Jim Agler, Nicholas Young and I have discovered that using an operator theoretic gadget (called a realization) one can get much better results on the bidisk.
