Embeddings of 4-manifolds in 7-space

I shall report on joint work with Arkadiy Skopenkov classifying isotopy classes of embeddings of closed, smooth 4-manifols with torsion free homology into 7-dimensional Euclidean space. The case S^1 \times S^3 is of particular interest. I shall also focus on the method of proof which runs via Kreck's theory of modified surgery.
