Torus knot signatures

Abstract

I will discuss a formula that I recently found for a special kind of L^2 signature (also called the rho-invariant) of a torus knot. I will then use this to give a simple proof of an old result in knot concordance and to shed some light on a mystery in number theory. This talk should be accessible to most mathematicians, since I won't assume any prior knowledge of knot concordance or signatures.
