Abstract
In 2003, Grigory Perelman sketched a proof of one of algebraic topology's most elusive problems, the Poincare Conjecture. The talk will give an elementary introduction to the ideas behind the conjecture and its proof as well a biographical account of its solution. No prerequisites.
