Abstract

Roughly speaking, an algebra is a vector space in which you can multiply elements. A coalgebra is a similar object, except the "direction of multiplication" is reversed. In this talk I will describe a neat way of proving some interesting results about Frobenius algebras, which are simultaneously algebras and coalgebras, by using pictures from topology.
