Dr Peter Young

Title: Why Do Bacteria Love Heavy Metal?

Bio: 

Peter Young is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon primarily based in the West of Scotland. His practice includes the management of prosthetic joint infection and salvage orthopaedics, metastatic bone disease, general trauma, primary and revision lower limb arthroplasty. 

Peter undertook fellowship training as the ZimmerBiomet Adult Reconstruction Travelling Fellow in Vancouver in 2016 and in the Sarcoma and Infection Unit of the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham.

Peter has a keen research interest having undertaken a BMedSci during his undergraduate training, and was the Robertson Trust Fellow in 2015 undertaking a postgraduate PhD in nanoscale surface modification and bone marrow stem cell response.  He supports stem cell research and biofilm imaging as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the University of Glasgow.
