On his appointment as Deputy Scientific Editor, he said: "I’m really excited by the role, and the upcoming challenge presented by helping the magazine make the leap to the digital world by adding a digital version to our print edition.

"I will also help develop and plan the magazine, reading and reviewing a wide range of microscopy articles, and sourcing new ones that would be of interest to the over 1,500 society members."
