On Monday, 31 August 2026, colleagues from across the School of Infection & Immunity gathered at SCENE on the shores of Loch Lomond for the first Scholarship and Learning Innovation Away Day.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for staff to explore educational scholarship, share innovative teaching practices, and identify new areas for collaboration.

The day included discussions on the role of scholarship in learning and teaching, exploring how activities such as curriculum innovation, educational research, public engagement, and evaluation of practice contribute to enhancing the student experience and supporting professional development.

Staff also shared examples of ongoing scholarship projects, highlighting the diverse and impactful work taking place across Sii.

Participants worked together to develop ideas for future projects, identify potential collaborators, and discussed cross-disciplinary initiatives, student partnership activities, and external funding opportunities.

The event was well received, with strong engagement from participants and plenty of opportunities to share ideas and approaches to learning and teaching across Sii.
