Dr Mariana Ferreira Silva awarded Young Investigator Grant to establish lab in Brazil

Dr Mariana Ferreira Silva has been awarded a Young Investigator Grant from the São Paulo Research Foundation to establish a research group at the University of São Paulo. Her five-year project will investigate how the ubiquitination system influences the life cycle of Toxoplasma gondii.

The School of Infection & Immunity's Dr Mariana Ferreira Silva has been awarded a Young Investigator Grant from FAPESP/SP - Brazil to establish a research group at the University of São Paulo (FCFRP - Ribeirão Preto).
This is a five-year position and Dr Ferreira-Silva will be leading a project titled Characterization of the ubiquitin proteasome system in Toxoplasma gondii and its role in parasite chronic differentiation.
During the project, Parasitology Research Associate Dr Ferreira-Silva will investigate how the ubiquitination system contributes to Toxoplasma gondii life cycle progression.
Dr Ferreira Silva said: "I am thankful for the opportunity to go back to Brazil and continue performing parasitology research.
“Also, I would like to give a thank you for all the support I received from Professor Lilach Sheiner and the School of Infection & Immunity during my post-doctoral training, which contributed to this successful application.”
