The University of Glasgow Centre for Parasitology (CfP) will host the British Society for Parasitology (BSP) Spring Meeting from Tuesday, 7 April to Thursday, 9 April 2026.

This prestigious event will run from Tuesday, 7 April to Thursday 9 April, with a welcome reception on Monday, 6 April at Glasgow City Chambers.

A large, inclusive centre jointly led by staff from the School of Infection & Immunity (Sii) and the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine (SBOHVM), the CfP has developed an engaging and comprehensive programme.

The main scientific sessions will take place in University of Glasgow buildings, including the James McCune Smith Learning Hub and Queen Margaret Union (QMU).

In addition to the academic programme, delegates will also enjoy a traditional Scottish cèilidh and a buffet dinner in the historic Bute Hall, offering an opportunity to connect in a more social setting.

The meeting will feature 15 scientific sessions covering:

  • Immunology and vaccinology (Session 3)
  • Novel tools and techniques (Session 4)
  • Veterinary Parasitology (Session 5)
  • Metabolism (Session 6)
  • Vector biology and vector-parasite interactions (Session 7)
  • Parasite Cell Biology I: Cell and Structural Biology (Session 8)
  • Parasite costs and health impacts (Session 9)
  • Gene expression and epigenetics (Session 10)
  • Parasite Cell Biology II: Life cycles and transitions (Session 11)
  • Climate change and ecology (Session 12)
  • Host-parasite interactions (Session 13)
  • Diagnostics and epidemiology (Session 14)
  • Applied and Interdisciplinary Parasitology (Session 15)

There will also be five workshops, including sessions on Education in Parasitology, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), and Common Antimicrobials for Fungal and Parasitic Diseases.

Registration and abstract submission are not yet open. The BSP website will post all details soon, including confirmed keynote speakers, so keep an eye on the events section.

Attendees are encouraged to start thinking ahead about potential nominations for the C.A. Wright Medal and the BSP President’s Medal.
