Here, Stefanie introduces herself and tells us a little about her interests and aspirations as they take up this important role.

"I’m Stefanie and I am pleased to join the Athena Swan and equality, diversity and inclusion efforts as the new disability champion. I have joined the SHW newly this year and am looking forward to meeting everyone. As disability champion I am hoping to advocate for all matters making work and participation at SHW easier for disabled and neurodivergent people and hopefully contribute to reducing some disabling barriers that exist in and around our place and community of work.

Please, if there is anything you would like me to raise with the school, or if you would like to brainstorm issues of diversity and inclusion regarding disabilities for events you’re organising, of if you would simply like to have a coffee and chat about anything, drop me an email! I am greatly looking forward to working with everyone at SHW."

Stefanie joins the other SHW champions and allies (ethnicity champion Mahnoz Illias, maternity and paternity champions Kirsty Dunn and Donald Lyall, LGBGQ+ safe ally Kate O'Donnell and LGBTQ+ safe community member Fiona Caryl) who have volunteered their time to address the issues and concerns of particular groups of staff and students within our school, and help to ensure fairness, inclusivity and a welcoming culture for all.
