Biography

Dr Syed Muhammad Asad is currently working for Transport for London (TfL) as a Senior Network and Telecomms Architect in the Technology & Data Department. He has served over 10 years in the telecommunications industry after receiving an MSc in Mobile Communication Systems from the University of Surrey in 2010. He completed his PhD from the University of Glasgow in 2022.

He has been recognised as a Technical Authority (Radio & Wireless) in the deployment of 4G Public Cellular Network (PCN) and Emergency Services Network (ESN) projects for the London Underground and is responsible for technical strategies dealing with radio, wireless Wi-Fi and cellular technologies, and architecture including Radio Access Network (RAN) design, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Private Mobile Radio (PMR), and M2M/IoT Communications.

Research interests

Research interests include, Self-Organising Networks (SON), Energy Efficiency, Zero Emissions and Machine Learning algorithms with 5G+ mobile communications. Currently, investigating dynamic radio access strategies, predictive learning, stochastic modelling and mobility prediction algorithms to meet zero-emissions strategy and standards.
