Dr Marcello Riggio Elected as President Elect of BSODR

The British Society for Oral and Dental Research (BSODR) has elected Dr Marcello Riggio as President Elect and he will become its next President in September 2019.

The British Society for Oral and Dental Research (BSODR) has elected Dr Marcello Riggio as President Elect and he will become its next President in September 2019.

BSODR is the British Division of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and its major mission is to advance research and increase knowledge for the improvement of oral health in the UK. In addition, BSODR also supports and represents the oral research community in the UK and promotes international research collaboration through IADR and its federations. BSODR currently has over 720 members.

Dr Riggio has been a member of the BSODR Management Committee since 2009, following his successful organisation of the BSODR 2009 research conference in Glasgow. He has served as both a Councillor and Webmaster, having developed, implemented and edited the new BSODR website since 2012. He was elected as Honorary Secretary of BSODR in 2014, since when he has been responsible for the day-to day running of BSODR, arranging meetings of the Management Committee, Annual Business Meeting and scientific meetings of the Society. As part of that role Dr Riggio serves on the IADR Council and the Board of Directors of the Pan European Region (PER) of IADR.

He takes up the position of President Elect immediately and will become President of BSODR at its 2019 Annual Meeting in Leeds (3rd to 6th September 2019). In the meantime, he will continue in his current BSODR roles of Honorary Secretary and Webmaster.
