Reception

Besides editing Ramsay’s works, the team behind the new Edition will conduct research relating to the reception of Allan Ramsay (1684-1758). In other words, we will consider how Ramsay has been remembered, celebrated, commemorated, and generally received since his death. Given his wide reach, we will look into the criticism of Ramsay, the many performances of his work, the celebrations of his life, and the monuments and objects that secure his memory not only in Scotland, but in a European and global sense. Click on Ramsay for an insight into the reception of his death and the four tiles for his wider legacy.
