How to apply

The Graduate Apprenticeship Team is here to help you throughout your application process

If you are interested in applying for a Software Engineering Graduate Apprenticeship, we recommend that you contact the Graduate Apprenticeship Team who can provide advice on current opportunities with our employer partners as well as support you with your applications to employers. Applicants can, however, apply directly to most of our partner employers if they wish. Follow the steps below to check your eligibility for the Graduate Apprenticeship degree programme and get support and guidance throughout your application process:

Step 1: Email the Graduate Apprenticeship Team

Email the Graduate Apprenticeships Team at compsci-ga-team@gla.ac.uk. Include the following information in your email:

  • whether you are a school or college leaver (or about to be), a job changer, or are looking to upskill in your current role
  • a brief overview of your academic history with qualifications (or expected qualifications if still at college/school).

Using this information, we will check you meet the academic entry requirements and let you know.

Step 2: Submit your draft CV for review

When we have determined that you meet (or are on track to meet) the academic entry requirements, we will create a “university pre-approved status on your application” and we will invite you to submit a draft of your CV. We will provide feedback and guidance on your CV (as needed) to ensure your application has the best chance of being selected by our employer partners.

Read the Graduate Apprenticeship Applicant Toolkit for more information about the application process and for advice on how to communicate well with prospective employers.

Step 3: Agree to your CV being put forward/Apply directly for jobs

New employer vacancies go live between November and July and are posted on Current vacancies.

Most employers will ask that you to apply directly using their recruitment portal. We can support you through this process and flag with employers that you have pre-approved academic status. We can also provide support and advice if you need to include a short covering letter with your application.

On occasion, employers do not require a direct application and as vacancies like this arise, we will contact you to seek your permission to put your CV forward.

Step 4: Liaise directly with employers

Once your application has been submitted to an employer, from here on the employer will contact you directly if they would like to interview you. If you have any questions or concerns email us at compsci-ga-team@gla.ac.uk.

This service is to support and guide applicants. We do not influence employer selection beyond confirming applicants meet the academic entry requirements.
