Healthcare Data

Our researchers lead national and international efforts to improve patient outcomes using healthcare data across cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, kidney disease, diabetes, geriatric care and COVID-19.

What types of healthcare data do we use?

  • Research cohorts: our researchers have substantial experience and expertise working with the UK Biobank cohort.
  • Linked routine healthcare data: West of Scotland Safe Haven, Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), Secure Anonymised Data Linkage (SAIL) Wales, Understanding Pathways into Care homes using Data (UnPiCD study) including linkage to national renal and cancer registries.
  • Trial data: individual participant-level data (IPD) from trials via publicly available data-sharing platforms (e.g., Vivli), Glasgow-run repositories for trial IPD (Virtual Trials Archives), and Glasgow-generated IPD from practice-changing trials in heart failure, stroke and chronic kidney disease.

What can we offer with our healthcare data?

  • Practice-changing evidence-based-medicine.
  • Pilot data for grant/funding applications.
  • Strong links with industry partners.
  • Strong collaboration with NHS data providers.
