Integrity management systems: Bridging the gap between anti-corruption regulation and practice
Published: 1 September 2025
How do organisations move beyond compliance to create meaningful cultures of integrity? This question lies at the heart of BridgeGap Work Package 4 (WP4), part of a wider Horizon Europe project working to close the distance between anti-corruption regulation and real-world integrity practice

Professor Adina Dudau (Management) leads WP4, which explores how integrity is fostered inside and across organisations in the public, private and hybrid sectors. The goal is to understand how organisations address challenges such as money laundering and undue influence, and how protective factors, such as anti-money laundering, public procurement, and whistleblowing regulations, help regulate this space. The research benchmarks integrity management systems across Europe and builds models to improve them. It brings an organisational lens to a policy issue, asking not just “what rules exist”, but “how they are applied” in practice.
The ASBS-based core team includes Dr Alvise Favotto and Dr Georgios Kominis (Accounting & Finance), and Dr Denisse Rodriguez Olivari (Business & Management). The core team also includes Professor Bernhard Reinsberg and Dr Taras Fedirko (both from the School of Social & Political Sciences). The team now reaches beyond the core team and works closely with Dr Anthoulla Phella.
The project is highly collaborative, bringing together expertise in law, media, anthropology, economics, business, and political science. The ASBS Work Package 4 team partners with the GOVTRUST Centre of Excellence (Antwerp University) and LUISS University (Rome), and engages with key global actors, including Transparency International, YouControl, the OECD, and the World Bank. Most recently, the team contributed to the work on the much-anticipated EU Anticorruption Directive, alongside other relevant Horizon-funded projects. They also engaged in other knowledge exchange initiatives, such as OECD’s and the World Bank’s annual integrity week events.
This broad network allows WP4 to generate practical insights that inform both policy and organisational change. The work supports more effective integrity systems, and stronger governance across Europe.
