The Management Seminar Series hosted Professor Collings of Dublin City University on 28 March 2018.

Professor David Collings of Dublin City University (DCU) Business School visited Adam Smith Business School on 28 March 2018 as part of the Management Seminar Series.

Professor Collings, who serves as Professor of HRM and Associate Dean for Research at DCU Business School, presented his research entitled ‘The revolution will not be televised: The political (re)production of taken-for-grantedness’ (co-authored with Professor Penny Dick). The research examines taken-for-grantedness in organisations, in particular how part-time work is seen within the context of demanding work, such as in the police force.

The event was jointly hosted by the Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour and Strategy & Decision Making research clusters. It attracted attendees from multiple research clusters within the Business School, demonstrating the broad appeal of Professor Collings’ work.

Professor Denis Fischbacher-Smith, Strategy & Decision Making Cluster Lead, said: “David is an internationally renowned expert in the area of HRM as evidenced by being named on three occasions as one of the discipline’s most influential thinkers in the field of HRM for his work on talent management and international recruitment. His seminar was extremely thought provoking and a reflection of his international standing.”
