Small Animal Hospital
The hospital offers a full service, multi-discipline experience covering Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology (the largest centre in Scotland), as well as Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, and Dermatology, all being supported by specialist teams in Anaesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging and Emergency & Critical Care.
In addition, the Hospital offers a 24-hour Emergency Service covering around 30 practices throughout Glasgow and the suburbs.
University of Glasgow Pet Practice
To further your experience, we now have a dedicated first opinion practice, working independently within our Small Animal Hospital; the practice is highly regarded, and it has a partnership with a national cat charity offering plenty of hands-on experience.
Cochno Farm and Research Centre
The facility extends to approximately 344ha (850 acres) and this facility plays a key role in the delivery of core teaching and research activities of the School.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) and BSc Veterinary Biosciences receive extensive instruction at Cochno. Pre-clinical and clinical teaching is facilitated and the farm is specially adapted for veterinary teaching. Practical teaching takes place within Cochno Farm and Research Centre, while seminars, small group teaching and lectures are held within Cochno House.
Glasgow Equine Hospital & Practice (Weipers Centre)
The Weipers Centre is a state of the art referral hospital for veterinary surgeons throughout Scotland and the wider Central Scotland area, and the teaching hospital for veterinary undergraduates at the University of Glasgow. It is closely associated with the first opinion Glasgow Equine Practice, and together these comprise the Weipers Centre, situated in the beautiful Garscube Campus.
Scottish Centre for Production Animal Health & Food Safety
The Centre provides a clinical service for practitioners and producers throughout Scotland and Northern England. They offer a variety of services including donation of animals to the Centre for diagnosis and appropriate treatment with the results of diagnostic procedures communicated to the referring vet, and farm and public health consultancy work including both farm and processor visits and production record analyses
Scottish Centre for Ecology and the Natural Environment (SCENE)
If you are part of our Veterinary Biosciences programme, you will travel out to the banks of Loch Lomond and visit our pioneering teaching and research facility that has been established since 1946 and committed to understanding the mechanisms that govern the natural world and the impact that humans impose.
