Following up on PRES 2008
PRES 2008 identified areas that you'd like us to work on but even where results are good we want to make them better. Here's just a few a things we're doing at the moment.

Further improving supervision and clarity on standards and procedures
- Supervisor good practice workshops are running in the Graduate Schools
- Launch of new Code of Practice for Postgraduate Research Degrees
Building a community of researchers
- Cross-university events and courses - including
- Graduate School team building events and away days - have a look at your Graduate School homepage to see what they're doing.
Better access to facilities
- New Postgraduate space in engineering
- Postgraduate rep invited to onto planning committee for new STEM centre
We know there’s more to be done here!
Training and development opportunities that meet the needs of all our researchers
- New courses in Graduate Schools (such as project and risk management)
- Increased number of cross university courses (Effective Researcher, MBTI and enterprise courses)
- Personal development planning workshops and e-portfolio tool (Mahara)
- £20k available in 08/09 for researcher-led training
- Improved communication of opportunities through researcher development website
- Email updates and online booking
