Research title: Rapid Coastal Change at Slag-Based Anthropogenic Coasts

Research summary

My research investigates the geochemistry, microstructures and formation mechanisms of lithified coastal slag facies with the overall aim of determining the key processes and timescales by which rapid lithification of slag-based anthropogenic coasts occurs.

Through geochemical analysis, radionuclide dating, and morphological change mapping, I aim to analyse the the potential for slag to lithify into anthropogenic rock at rates superceding those of natural sedimentary rock formation.
