Research title: Rapid Coastal Change at Slag-Based Anthropogenic Coasts
Research summary
My research investigates the geochemistry, microstructures and formation mechanisms of lithified coastal slag beachrock facies; with the overall aim of determining the core processes and timescales by which rapid lithification of slag-based anthropogenic coasts occurs.
Through geochemical analysis, radionuclide dating, and morphological change mapping, I aim to analyse the the potential for slag to lithify into anthropogenic rock at rates superceding those of natural sedimentary rock formation.
