It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Professor Charles Fewson, the founding Director of IBLS, died suddenly at the weekend. Charles's influence and contribution over many years to the University of Glasgow and to the Biochemistry Department was extremely important and of course he was the key figure in the establishment, in 1994, of IBLS. This University owes him a tremendous debt and he will be sorely missed by his many friends and colleagues.
