About Us
The Strategic Research Initiatives team works in close partnership with colleagues in the University’s four Colleges and University Services to connect academics across disciplines. We develop and deliver creative research initiatives that transcend College boundaries and proactively support the development of ambitious and innovative cross-disciplinary projects to address societal challenges. We do this by:
- Analysing the University’s capabilities and the research funding landscape to identify where established and emerging research strengths and capabilities align with external cross-disciplinary funding opportunities.
- Convening exploratory discussions in response to strategic cross-disciplinary funding opportunities, bringing together academics to form research consortia.
- Mobilising cross-functional bid development teams to provide professional research support to academics preparing cross-disciplinary proposals, coordinating and project managing the preparation of high quality strategic bids and ensuring institutional support for projects of strategic importance to the University.
- Facilitating sandpits and workshops that aim to enhance cross-disciplinary research capacity and capability, stimulate novel ideas and foster new collaborations.
